As co-chairs of the USC branch of the Intercollegiate Taiwanese American Students Association (ITASA), we are pleased to inform you that the seventh annual ITASA West Coast Conference will be held at the University of Southern California in April 8-9, 2005.
What is ITASA?
ITASA is a non-profit organization providing events and resources that explore and celebrate Taiwanese American identity in order to inspire, empower, and activate its community.
What is the 2005 ITASA West Coast Conference at USC?
Our theme for this conference is "One Step Ahead." Taiwan has been built
on being one step ahead, and has emerged as a technological frontrunner, a cultural epicenter, and one of Asia's prominent democracies. Through this conference's lectures, workshops, and performances, we aim to educate about and foster an ever-growing Taiwanese American identity and pride by showcasing experts in fields such as political science, history, economics, ethnic studies, and public activism. Our goal for this conference is to help establish the next generation of vibrant Taiwanese Americans leaders.
Why we want you to come?
This April, about 200 of the brightest students around the country will come together at this two-day convention to enjoy and learn about Taiwanese American issues in the States. Please visit our website at www.itasa.org/usc/ to get more details about our speakers and workshops. We have many workshops regarding opportunities for the new generation both in Taiwan and in the US, fun cultural workshops, and so on. We want you to come and have fun, and to meet people from around the country.
Again, we hope to see you at the conference (April 8-9). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at uscitasa@yahoo.com. Please visit www.itasa.org/usc/ to register. Early registration (before march 18) is $25, normal registration (after March 18) is $30. (The registration fee includes t-shirts, meals on both conference days, and a banquet dinner at the Radisson Hotel, and the semi-formal dance.)
We look forward to seeing you at the conference!
Sincerely,
Anne Huang, 2005 USC ITASA West Coast Conference Director |
