community college

我是高三的學生
已經確定未來會出國念書
所以跟媽媽討論後也決定直接不參加學測
雖然很多人都覺得這個決定很危險
但因為確定一定要出國所以才出此決策

我現在有在補習
準備要考IELTS
但會等補習完才會去考試
大約是明年的五六七月考試
我知道這樣要參加秋季班會來不及
所以本來想說要等到2013年在申請學校

後來透過補習班間接跟代辦中心有做接洽
我之前有問過很多家代辦中心
那時候還沒有什麼想法 所以就都有大概諮詢
代辦都認為 我還是先去考IELTS 所以才先去補習的

而現在諮詢的代辦認為我要浪費一年是不必要的
我可以先申請community college學校是他們推薦
他們認為我可以採取 2+2的方式
兩年community college後 轉學到四年制的大學
我覺得這就有點像是所謂的 條件式入學
我不知道這樣到底好不好

我的一個學姊希望我能的話就跟他一樣去念
Central Washington University
他是用IELTS六分進去的 他好像是先念語言課程
他怕我去念community college會只有community college畢業
怕我會轉不進去四年制的大學

而我的另一位朋友 他高二過去美國念高中
他也決定要用所謂2+2方式
兩年community college 兩年四年制大學

大概目前情況是如此
希望真正出過國的朋友能給點想法
希望代辦們可以盡量不要介入
因為 其實坦白說 我也知道就算找了代辦
他們也不會確保讓你一定能畢業....等等
我知道一切都要靠自己 我也找了很多資料
大概了解留美的所需 但因為還是有所不確定 所以才希望大家能給我一點想法

如果美國無法去成 可能就會去澳洲吧...

in USA, the cost of living is high.
Tuition is also very high for international student.

However, if you study hard, you should be able to transfer into a good University.
(usually based on your GPA in community college)

one thing you should keep in mind that some people study in community college and lost their goal.....(because 50% of the students in CC college don't study hard)

i believe....ENGLISH is the most important factor if you wish to study in English-based country.

for international student, I don't know there is much different over Tuition now.

whether or not  you can transfer into 4 year-university is depended on your grades in community colleges. Like ocean350 said, if you study hard, you should be able to get into any good schools.

you need to have some ideas about your major? set your major first. do research on classes you need to graduated.
for example, in 4 year-university
what classes do you need to take ?

then
do research on 2+2 system, the classes in
the first 2 year in community college (the classes you need to take for transfer)
the last 2 year in 4-year university.

我現在也在加州的社區大學讀書,現在正在準備轉學,
其實在社區大學拿高的GPA不算難,
轉到四年制大學也不難,
只是當然要保持較高的GPA才能轉到好大學.
如果你在台灣功課還不錯,那對你來說應該是件不難的事.

本來只是怕找代辦辦會辦到不好的學校....
因為在網路上有找了一下資料
但後來發現代辦幫我找的那家community college居然就在Central Washington University的附近
難怪代辦得資料上寫跟Central Washington University有合作....

出外讀書都是要靠自己努力的我知道
而且我不想要浪費媽媽的錢 所以才想要詢問一下大家的意見別走冤枉路....

我也看到幾位是2+2的方式，重點是『whoseengin』說的：保持較高的GPA才能轉到好大學。

其實 2+2 在加州 比較少發生   通常都是 2+ 3 或是 3 + 2
community college 提供的課程多是 General Education (共同科目?) 轉到 university 後 通常本科系的課因為有擋修等等的問題大多會拖成兩年半或三年

其他同學有提到很重要的事情
- 很多人讀了 community college 也不會好好唸書. 自我要求是很重要的
- community college 要拿高的 GPA 不困難
- 英文很重要. 我也會建議你先去唸個半年一年的語言學校  或是第一二學期就拿 community college 的ESL (English as Second Language) 課程. 熟悉人文環境後拿好成績更是事半功倍

目前加州 community college international student 學費約 $250 per unit
