ELEN 264 & 265 Semiconductor Theory I & II
Instrunctor: Aare Onton
Textbook: Device Electronics for Integrated Circuits, 3E,by Muller,Chan.
Prof Onton is nice but getting older and older everyday...you know.
Students have to study it by themselves, best with
Semiconductor Physics And Devices, 3E, by Donald Neamen
Homeworks are ok, midterm and finals are different every year,
reasonable, but this is a required class for analog concentration. =)
ELEN 252 & 253 Analog Integrated Circuits I & II
Instructor: Yusuf Haque
Textbook: Analysis and Design of Analog Integrated Circuits,4E, by Gray/Hurst/Lewis/Meyer, but better with help from
Microelectronic Circuits, 5E, Sedra/Smith
Prof Haque is ok in person, but his teaching is too shallow, not into details, but analog circuits are EVERYTHING but details,
He gives no handouts, so we spend all the time copying what he writes on the board, Bad!
Differences in homeworks, midterms, and finals are 20%~50%,
very difficult, worse if haven't calculating MOS/BJT circuits before. no mercy at all,
ELEN 387 & 388 VLSI Design I & II
Instructor: Santanu Dutta
Textbook: Digital Integrated Circuits,2E, by Rabaey
but better with help from CMOS VLSI Design : A Circuits and Systems Perspective, 3E,by Weste & Harris
Prof Dutta is nice, good handouts, but strong Indian accent. He asks students many questions in class, but how can students answer those? Students are there to learn, ok?
Easy homeworks (sometimes too time consuming) with easy finals, similar to past years, no midtern or project. |
